Important Notice: Hydrostatic (Water) Pressure Test Only for PVC & CPVC Pipes & Fittings — Do NOT Use Air Pressure Test

2026-10-15 0 Leave me a message

Our PVC and CPVC plastic piping products are designed for liquid service. Only hydrostatic (water pressure) test is approved for pressure inspection. Air pressure (pneumatic) testing is strictly prohibited.Difference Between Hydrostatic Test and Air Pressure Test

Hydrostatic Test (Water Pressure Test — Recommended & Approved)

Water is nearly incompressible. When pipe or fitting fails during testing, only water leaks out, with little stored energy released.

✅ Safe for operators

✅ Easy to locate leakage points visually

✅ Stable pressure reading, less affected by temperature fluctuation

✅ Matches the actual working condition of plastic pipe for water delivery

Pneumatic Test (Air Pressure Test — Forbidden)

Air is compressible and stores huge potential energy under pressure. Once the PVC/CPVC pipe or fitting bursts, the compressed air releases energy instantly, causing violent shattering of plastic parts and flying sharp fragments, which may lead to severe personal injury.

❌ High safety risk of explosive failure

❌ Hard to find small leaks

❌ Pressure value drifts easily with temperature change

❌ Not compliant with ASTM and international plastic pipe standards

Key ReminderAny damage, crack or personal injury caused by air pressure testing will not be covered under our product warranty.

Please perform the hydrostatic pressure test strictly following relevant plastic piping standards. If you have technical questions about test procedure, please contact our technical team.
